How America Finds Itself on the Brink of a Totalitarian State

The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, also known and branded as NCAA March Madness, is a single-elimination tournament played each spring in the United States, featuring 68 college basketball teams from the Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association to determine the national championship.

The No. 15 seed Oral Roberts Golden Eagles men’s basketball team, representing Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, pulled off a sensational upset victory over the No. 2 seed Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday, March 19, and two days later defeated the No. 7 seed Florida Gators as well.

ORU was eventually eliminated from the tournament on Saturday night by No. 3 seed Arkansas. But it made its presence felt in March.

The victories landed Oral Roberts basketball coach Paul Mills, a strong believer and the son of a pastor, straight into cultural Marxism’s murky maelstrom.

“I tell our guys this,” he said, “we need to use our God-given abilities for God-given reasons. As much as I admire Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., there aren’t three people who gather every Sunday to celebrate his greatness. So we’re not going to sit around and act like we’re great.

“Now 120 million people gather every Sunday, 180 million on Easter, to celebrate One name, and that is the name of Jesus Christ. And to be at an institution that honors that—[i.e.] ‘There is no other name under heaven and earth by which man must be saved‘—we can give them something to celebrate. …”

Coach Mills’ correct biblical worldview got him in the contentious crosshairs of USA Today’s “race and inclusion editor” Hemal Jhaveri, who pronounced on March 23 that “Oral Roberts University isn’t the feel good March Madness story we need.”

“While the school has been soundly mocked on social media for its archaic standards of behavior and code of conduct that bans profanity, ‘social dancing’, and shorts in classrooms, it is the school’s discriminatory and hateful anti-LGBTQ+ policy that fans should protest as the Golden Eagles advance in the tournament.

“That Oral Roberts wants to keep its students tied to toxic notions of fundamentalism that fetishize chastity, abstinence and absurd hemlines is a larger cultural issue that can be debated. What is not up for debate however is their anti-LGBTQ+ stance, which is nothing short of discriminatory and should expressly be condemned by the [read woke] NCAA.”

Whereas this bombastic banality passed muster with USA Today, an equally prejudicial and rancorous posting on the Boulder supermarket shooter must have transgressed the daily middle-market newspaper’s liberal standards of behavior and code of conduct, since it got the “inclusion editor” excluded from her job on March 25.

Jhaveri represents a typical example of the mindset of America’s college campuses and universities that were taken over by young radicals in the 1960s. They now are tenured faculty members parading the wares and values of cultural Marxism, with its overt and petulant enmity toward America and God, and its instigation on separating individuals into groups based on race, sex and gender, all the while sowing discord and division aimed at radical social transformation.

Political correctness, multiculturalism, religious secularism and the latest fad, Critical Race Theory, are all radical ideologies derived from cultural Marxism. Through coercive persuasion and systematic effort, cultural Marxism has been secularizing America’s youth over the last 50 or 60 years for the express purpose of perverting the culture, controlling the public stage and ruling the roost over the spiritual, intellectual, educational, economical and vocational levers of power and influence.

The present woeful condition of American culture is, to a large degree, due to the dereliction of the church, and its abandonment and surrender of the public square over the last 100 years to pagan secularism.

“We have,” says Dr. Joseph Boot, “progressively retreated into a pietistic bubble, concerned largely with eternal verities and keeping souls from hell, and we have faithlessly limited Christ’s jurisdiction to the institutional church. The result has been the marginalization of the Christian church and a change of religion in the public sphere.”

The 16 fatefully destructive years of the Warren Court [Oct. 5, 1953 – June 23, 1969]—warranting its characterization as “the most liberal court in U.S. history”—replaced the solid Scriptural foundation laid down by America’s founders with the shifting sands of cultural Marxism’s precept of mundane man as the sole arbiter of truth.

Today’s cultural Marxists claim the exclusive right to determine who is racist, what constitutes carnal behavior and who should be in power by allowing Big Tech to censor free speech during elections, by facilitating Big Pharma to create and fund “panic for profit” and by edifying corporate America and big business that “profit is secondary to diversity.”

Southwest Airlines, are you listening?

With that, America finds itself in the preconditional stage for the establishment of a totalitarian state.

How can it be that a nation “founded for the glory of God and advancement of the Christian faith,” as the Mayflower Compact declared on November 11, 1620, looks on with unconcerned disinterest as judicial dignitaries remove prayer [1962, Engel v. Vitale], the Bible [1963, Abington School District v. Schempp], the Ten Commandments [1980, Stone v. Graham], dispatch 60 million children in the womb [1973, Roe v. Wade], exalt and normalize homosexual intercourse and legalize same-sex marriage [2015, Obergefell v. Hodges], and expand homosexual and transgender rights [2020, Bostock v. Clayton County]?

It may be correctly concluded from this inventory of iniquity that there is no longer a God in America, for judges rule, and we may do only what is right in their eyes.

Harold O.J. Brown (1933-2007), with four earned degrees from Harvard University and Harvard Divinity School, spanning topics from biochemistry to church history, predicted in August 2005 that “The structure of American society is being demolished brick by brick. Within a few short years, Americans will have reached the ‘liberty’ desired by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the abolition of every particular dependency. This is what Hannah Arendt called ‘the atomistic mass’, a precondition for the establishment of totalitarianism. But the American body politic remains supine, like a fat sow, occasionally twitching or flicking her tail at the pricks of the insects but doing nothing to evade the approach of the butcher.”

And yet, there is a good news. Sin may be exalted, esteemed and glorified through the current secular, sexulized culture, but it won’t matter for “all things will be righted in due time when truth and righteousness come to the fore” through the involvement of Gideons and Rahabs entering the public square.

Praise be unto God.{eoa}
