Franklin Graham Defends Meghan McCain’s Stance on Biden, Abortion

The president of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has come to the defense of Meghan McCain after her comments regarding Biden’s abortion stance dropped her in hot water on social media.

He commended McCain on Facebook Tuesday, saying he appreciates that The View co-host “isn’t afraid to state the truth.”

During a discussion on whether pro-choice Catholics, especially those in positions of power, should be allowed to receive Communion considering the denomination’s stance on abortion, McCain said President Biden’s views were not only illogical but could cause “deep spiritual harm” to both himself and the country.

Her claim that Biden would have to “ultimately have to talk to his creator when the time comes” and “reconcile his politics with his personal faith” caused a buzz on social media.

Graham, however, was one of the few that came to McCain’s aid, saying he appreciates that McCain “is willing to defend life even if it isn’t politically correct to some.”

He continued with a call to pray for Biden and said he would contend for him to “reconsider his position on abortion in this country.”

He urged supporters to show their appreciation for McCain’s “boldness” in the comments.

And sound off in the comments they did.

One user wrote, “she is spot on and so right! Good for her for standing for the truth! God hates the sin of abortion!!!”

Another commented, “Well said. I too have had my own disagreements with Ms McCain in the past, but totally align with her statements on this issue. So many Americans believe that SCOTUS is the final word and whatever they determine is truth. I don’t. I believe they were completely wrong on their Roe v. Wade decision, as does Norma McCorvey now. It is a shame that ever reached the Supreme Court, but if it wasn’t Roe v. Wade, it would have come up later under a different name.”

Graham and his followers were not the only ones who defended the hot-button view.

Lila Rose, founder and president of pro-life group LiveAction, spoke of the “nonsensical” bias represented on television.

McCain assured her supporters the pushback would not deter her from standing up for her values.

Following the debate, she tweeted an “ardently pro-life” message in which she said, “I do not care how much pressure or how uncool it makes me in media circles, I am ardently pro-life. I am proud to be and will always fight for the rights of the unborn. I wish the media would employ more than one woman on network tv instead of treating us like we’re fringe freaks.” {eoa}
