WATCH: Family Tragedy Turns to Heartfelt Gospel Hit
Gospel artist Anne Wilson says her sudden rise to fame rose out a dark time in her life. But her love for “My Jesus,” the 19-year-old tells Bob Smietana of Religion News, triumphs over all.
The video of her debut recording recently hit No. 1 on the Billboard chart for Christian music, and its official video has been viewed more than 6.2 million times on YouTube. A live version of the song, performed with co-writer and fellow Christian artist Matthew West, has been viewed more than 2.6 million times on Facebook.
After her brother was tragically killed in a car accident at age 23, Wilson, then 15, sang in front of an audience for the first time, sharing Hillsong’s “What a Beautiful Name,” per her website. The video of that recording went viral and eventually garnered her a record deal.
Wilson continues her theme of God’s presence in the midst of pain in “My Jesus,” singing, “Are you past the point of weary/ Is your burden weighing heavy/ Is it all too much to carry/ Let me tell you ’bout my Jesus.”
Watch and worship along with Wilson, who boldly declares, “His love is strong and His grace is free/ And the good news is I know that He/can do for you what He’s done for me/ Let me tell you ’bout my Jesus.” {eoa}
