The Real Glory of America Lies in This Crucial Character Trait

Cultural Marxism is a political and social plan centered on class warfare, pitting people against one another as it divides the country into groups—the oppressor versus the oppressed.

Fascism is a doctrine of elitism where the superior crushes the inferior and the weak. It stands for oppressive totalitarian control, lawlessness and the loss of individual rights.

In the summer of 2020, when Antifa and Black Lives Matter were busy torching and looting America’s cities, it struck us as peculiar that no American newspaper or journalist seemed interested in investigating where the pallets of bricks came from that were used as projectiles on the protest routes around the nation.

At long last, the misnomer “religiously neutral secular state” seems to be coming to its end. Secularism is no more “neutral” than Christianity. The deceptive terminology has been effectively deployed over the last 100 years to help secularists gain political advantage to displace Christianity in America’s public square with religious secularism. Despite secularism’s duplicitous insistence on being “neutral,” to believe in God or not to believe in God are both religious beliefs.

By now the alarm bells should be going off about how the allegedly “neutral” state got invested with so much “divine” power that it could remove prayer and Bible from public education, wantonly license the barbaric carnage of unborn babies in utero, brazenly banish the Ten Commandments from public education, courthouses and government buildings, as well as making up out of whole cloth a constitutional right to homosexual intercourse and marriage and most recently, guilefully but gleefully bestowing “special rights” upon homosexuals and transgenders.

American Christendom’s relinquishment of the public square paved the way for the State to exalt itself to a godlike position, to be treated as the object of supreme regard. This became overly apparent during the COVID pandemic when government oligarchs demanded unquestioned submission to their noxious ‘public health’ measures and disallowed churches to congregate and worship.

It hasn’t taken America’s current public education system long to seamlessly fall in line with Nazi Germany’s Hitler movement and education theories. An architect by training with an unparalleled understanding of the evil Nazi “philosophy” whose grandiose designs became icons of Nazi megalomania, Albert Speer (1905-1981) was sentenced to 20 years for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

He wrote in his memoirs, entitled “Inside The Third Reich”: “In school, there could be no criticism of courses or subject matter, let alone of the ruling powers of the state. Unconditional faith in the authority of the school was required. It never even occurred to us to doubt the order of things, for as students we were subjected to the dictates of a virtually absolutist system.”

The whole school system was designed, wrote Speer, to leave “a whole generation without defenses when exposed to the new techniques for influencing opinion.”

Perhaps in a vain attempt to claim that he knew little or nothing about the death camps, Speer asserted that “one seldom recognizes the devil when he is putting his hand on your shoulder.”

Such a hand on the shoulder was definitely brushed off in the America established by biblically literate people who understood that human nature is irretrievably sinful. To that end, a system of checks and balances was developed to separate powers within a constitutional framework designed to combat the culture’s erosion and the nation’s disintegration. The guarantee of limitations on executive power and constitutional rights on individual liberties formed once, but by all appearances not any longer, the trademarks of American legislation.

Francis Thomas Vincent Jr. (1938), known as Fay Vincent, is a former entertainment lawyer, securities regulator and Commissioner of Major League Baseball from September 13, 1989, to September 7, 1992.

Last week he wrote in the “Wall Street Journal,” “Budding leaders need mentors who encourage strong character. I had [such a] one. As a junior at Hotchkiss School in 1955, I followed my headmaster down the main corridor. He showed me a plaque honoring the winners of the alumnus-of-the-year award and asked if I knew how many had been ‘scholarship boys’. He listed those who had come from families of limited means like mine.

“[As a sterling example] The Marine Corps trains leaders and does it well. One of its mottos is ‘Next man up’: When a leader falls, the next leader is created. Leadership requires being afforded the opportunity to lead. But, as Henry Kissinger has noted, the essence of leadership is character. Character development remains a vital national challenge, perhaps now more than ever.”

When it comes to character development, contemporary public education earns the triple ‘F’ of Failure, Folly and Falsehood.

Called the ‘Father of American Scholarship and Education’, Noah Webster Jr. (1758-1843) was an American lexicographer, textbook pioneer, English-language spelling reformer, political writer, editor and author. Webster’s “Blue-backed Speller” sold up to a total of 100 million copies over the course of 385 editions. The foundational textbook taught children how to read, write, spell and pronounce words for over 100 years.

Education in 19th-century America was focused on character development and the incorporation of principles in America’s youth. Webster wrote: “In selecting men of office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect [party] of the candidate—look to his character. … It is alleged by men of loose principles or defective views of the subject that religion and morality are not necessary or important qualifications for stations. But the Scriptures teach a different doctrine. They direct that rulers should be men who rule in the fear of God, able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness. … When a citizen gives his vote to a man of known immorality, he abuses his civic responsibility; he not only sacrifices his own responsibility; he sacrifices not only his own interest, but that of his neighbor; he betrays the interest of his country.”

If America is to resurrect, the emphasis must once again be laid upon character development in America’s youth. Rather than in military might, or gross domestic product, the real glory of a nation lies in righteousness, the moral and spiritual integrity and virtuous character exalting a nation, whereas sin is a disgrace to any people (Prov. 14:34).

The South African theologian Barend Johannes (Bennie) van der Walt (1939) argues that “Modern society is increasingly displaying the characteristics of the oldest religion that has existed, namely, paganism. It seeks to hide its religious character as a means of controlling the ‘public’ realm, creating a political religion with a totalitarian impulse.”

In 2021, the American Renewal Project hosted 13 North Carolina pastors’ luncheons featuring NC Lt. Governor Mark Robinson. 2,700 NC pastors and spiritual leaders participated in those 13 events across the state. The 13 events led to 50 NC pastors and spiritual leaders running for local office on May 17, 2022: city council, school board, county commissioner, etc. The 25 winning NC pastors and spiritual leaders will be on the ballot this fall—please hold them in your prayers.

The education of ancient Israel’s youth was of great importance to the nation, as per the book of Deuteronomy.

Thankfully, Gideon’s and Rahab’s are beginning to stand. {eoa}
