Divisions & Deception Headlining 2023 State of the Union

There are few times in American history when the Bible verses of Romans 16:17-18 have been more relevant than they are today.

“Now I urge you, brothers, to closely watch those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the teaching which you have learned, and avoid them. For such people do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own appetites, and through smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.”

As President Joe Biden gets set to give his 2023 State of the Union address, Americans are still struggling under the pressures of inflation, rising gas prices and food costs, as well as division in the social, political, cultural, racial and spiritual spheres of the country. Not to mention the recent Chinese spy balloon that gripped the country’s attention as it traversed the majority of the continental United States, until it was finally shot down over the East Coast.

If the CCP had a surveillance mission for the balloon to fulfill, it most assuredly accomplished that goal.

But what about the president’s words when he was on the campaign trail? To be a unifier, which Americans on both sides of the aisle can get behind, a leader that brings people together instead of driving them further into feral tribalism?

Well, last September the President said “MAGA Republicans” and the former president Donald Trump were extremists who threatened the very fabric the nation was founded on.

“Too much of what’s happening in our country today is not normal,” Biden said. “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.

“There’s no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans. And that is a threat to this country,” Biden continued. “MAGA Republicans have made their choice. They embrace anger. They thrive on chaos. They live not in the light of truth, but in the shadow of lies. Together, we can choose a different path.”

That statement is quite the deviation from a united front of bringing all Americans together.

Besmirching half of the country that did not vote for you would most certainly offend millions of hard-working Americans while promoting division across the country.

Those words certainly meet the criteria for a person or group that Paul was warning believers about in Romans.

Sadly, there are more instances of the current president causing division and offenses, but worse than that, offending God by not only supporting but promoting the things which the Bible says are abominations to the Lord.

In December of 2022, Joe Biden, a self-described devout Catholic who believes in God, signed a bill that completely re-wrote the definition of marriage and codified it into American law.

The Biden administration celebrated this act that runs contrary to the Word of God by inviting drag queens, LGBTQ activists and abortion proponents to commemorate the event, lighting up the White House in a commandeered version of the rainbow that is supposed to represent God’s promise to Noah.

“Today is a good day!” exclaimed the president at the signing ceremony. “A day America takes a vital step toward equality, toward liberty and justice, not just for some, but for everyone—toward creating a nation, decency, dignity and love are recognized, honored and protected.”

The president’s own words when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade also brought with them a chorus of division, as he called out the Judiciary branch by name.

When asked by a reporter at a NATO summit in Spain if the U.S. was moving in the wrong direction, he responded by saying:

“The one thing that has been destabilizing is the outrageous behavior of the Supreme Court of the United States in overruling not only Roe v. Wade, but essentially challenging the right to privacy.

“We’ve been a leader in the world in terms of personal rights and privacy rights, and it is a mistake in my view for the Supreme Court to do what it did,” Biden declared.

Catholics across the world took issue with this stance on a practice that has killed tens of millions of babies over the course of history and the official stance of the Catholic church is against abortion.

So, what do all of these examples of the president of the United States mean in terms of Romans 16:17-18?

Unfortunately, President Joe Biden’s actions and statements have led him to become one of the most anti-God and anti-Christian presidents in the history of the United States.

Joe Biden’s political agenda has shown he cannot be trusted to pass legislation that is of biblical principle and pleasing to God.

The Biden administration has prioritized secular practices over religious freedoms at every turn, while fighting for children to be mutilated, love to be redefined lower, personal responsibility to be abolished and American solidarity to be replaced by globalist control.

For Christians, their fight is not with the president. He is not the enemy, but the spiritual forces that have taken complete control over his administration are.

Christian leaders across the country are sounding the trumpets of warning about the spiritual warfare taking place in America today. Unfortunately, too few are heeding the call to engage in fasting, intercession and ministry for the president and his administration, praying that God radically grab hold of him and his cabinet members, and bring them all toward repentance of their actions that have grieved the Holy Spirit.

Answering the secularization of America with the grace, love, mercy, boldness and courage of Jesus Christ is not only the best, but only option in bringing this country back to being “One Nation Under God.” {eoa}
