Joni Lamb: Navigating the Storm of Grief

Joni Lamb is one of the most well-known faces of Christian television ministry.

After starting Daystar with her late husband, Marcus, Joni saw God do exceedingly and abundantly far more than she ever could have imagined as their platform took off and became a global outlet to spread the gospel. However, it is in Joni’s grieving process after the loss of Marcus that she saw God’s goodness to stick with her even in the darkest storm.

“What I learned is what God’s faithfulness, and I learned that He can give you peace in the midst of the storm,” Lamb says.

When it comes to the turbulent struggles and trials of this world, Joni says that these events are made to refine us to be more like Christ.

“You can be refined; you know like gold. I mean, gold is not refined unless it’s under fire. It’s under heat. It’s under pressure. And really what’s on the inside of us comes out in a storm, not on top of the mountain,” Lamb says.

When Joni experienced the loss of her husband, she not only lost her closest friend, but she assumed all responsibilities of being in charge of Daystar.

Losing a spouse was the most difficult thing I’ve ever gone through,” Lamb says. “There were so many people, especially widows, who said to me after, ‘How did you keep posting your show? How did you become the president of Daystar, and take on even more responsibility than you already had?'”

While this storm was unexpected for Joni, she saw how God’s hand has been with her, guiding her through every storm leading up to this one. She knew He would not fail her even in the time of her greatest disappointment.

“Some people faint, some get tired, some get weary,” Lamb says. “If you let Him lead you through, if you hold on tightly to His hand…He will take you through the storm.”

While none of want to go through a storm, it is certain that we will experience trials throughout life. There’s a reason that 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Navigating storms, especially storms of grief, are not easy. However, God’s strength is enough to bring you through any storm. He will take all things and use them for your good. {eoa}
