“The Chosen” has released exciting updates for season five.

The Come and See Foundation, which is the nonprofit that viewers can donate to for the funding of the show, announced that Season 5 has been fully funded.

Over 100,000 donors in more than 151 countries were part of this milestone, according to the post’s video.

Season 5 is set to tell the story of Holy Week, perhaps the most powerful moment in history as this time span goes from Palm Sunday to Resurrection Sunday.

It is in this season that viewers will witness the heartbreaking betrayal of Judas.

During an interview with The Direct, “The Chosen” creator Dallas Jenkins explained why he is anticipating this particular moment.

“What isn’t a spoiler is how it happens and who it impacts and how the disciples wrestle with knowing that something bad is happening,” Jenkins told the outlet. “They didn’t have a hallway for it. They couldn’t understand it. They couldn’t figure out who it might be. So why is that? Why couldn’t they figure out it was Judas? I love exploring that. How does this impact Judas? Judas probably had a family.”

Jenkins also described the scenes that have already been filmed between Jesus and Judas as “heartbreaking.”

“Really heartbreaking and tough to film and are going to be tough to watch. They impacted Luke Dimyan who’s playing Judas significantly. How we portray scenes between Jesus and Judas when Jesus knows what’s coming. It’s been really fascinating to portray,” Jenkins said.

For fans of “The Chosen,” Season 5 will certainly be a captivating adventure to watch.
