Women of Faith Kick Off 2013 Tour ‘Believing God Can Do Anything’
Women of Faith, the nation’s largest gathering of Christian women, is taking the opportunity to give back to Oklahoma tornado victims during its Oklahoma City stop, the first in its 24-city “Believe God Can Do Anything” tour beginning August 2.
“This area has experienced such heartache and devastation from the recent tornados, and we want to give this community, especially the women in it, encouragement and refreshment for the days ahead,” said Sheila Walsh, author, singer and Women of Faith speaker.
The Women of Faith Oklahoma City conference will take place at the Chesapeake Energy Arena August 2-3 and will feature national speakers, authors and musicians including Christine Caine, Priscilla Shirer, Patsy Clairmont, Craig Groeschel, MercyMe and Kari Jobe.
Women of Faith is offering ticket vouchers for the two-day conference to women in the area affected by the May tornadoes. More than 500 vouchers allowing free access to the conference have already been given away, with the organization open to offering more vouchers in order to meet the needs of individuals. Those interested in claiming a voucher can contact Stefanie Aldrich, OKC event representative, at 409.749.0034.
In addition, Women of Faith is partnering with Lifechurch.tv to hold a special worship service on July 31 at the church’s Oklahoma City South Campus (7800 S. Walker Ave.) beginning at 7 p.m. The service is a free event, open to the entire community, and will feature best-selling authors and national speakers Walsh and Lisa Harper, as well as local pastors and musical talent.
“We had planned to start the 2013 tour in Oklahoma City long before the May tornadoes,” said Debbie Stuart, church and leadership development director for Women of Faith. “When the disasters occurred, our team traveled to the area to assist in cleanup efforts, but we know there is much more work to be done. Beyond just physical assistance, we want to offer an opportunity for women to be spiritually and emotionally renewed and help them understand that God is in control; this is just one small way we can foster healing.”
This year’s Women of Faith theme, “Believe God Can Do Anything,” was created to inspire women to let go of the pain and stress by handing their lives over to the only One who can make anything possible, God.
“Today’s women face more challenges and anxiety than ever but the women in this area have the added pain of the physical loss and emotional stress of a natural disaster,” said Carol Nygren, Women of Faith executive vice president and managing director. “We believe God can do anything and that includes bringing hope and healing to those hurting from any storm of life.”
The ‘Believe God Can Do Anything’ tour will make stops in 24 cities across the U.S. starting in Oklahoma City and wrapping up in Louisville, Ky., on Nov. 17. For additional information, please visit womenoffaith.com.
