After a video surfaced of Orlando-based pastor Earl Carter preaching against homosexuality, Bishop Brandon B. Porter spoke to the Huffington Post about the theology behind conversion therapy.

“We were all a little shocked by that,” Porter said of Carter’s message. “… We all cringed to some degree because it was hard, but people say hard things about the church. But let me say this about love: We never preach that God doesn’t love all. … it’s not that God doesn’t love sinners; He doesn’t love sin.”

Porter continued, “We as a church believe you can be free and delivered of anything that’s not what God wants you to be.”
