Ben Carson Was Asked Whether the Bible Trumps the Constitution. Here’s His Answer
In the final segment of his Meet the Press interview yesterday. host Chuck Todd asked Dr. Ben Carson a reader’s question: “Simple question: Does the Bible have authority over the Constitution?” “He said that’s a simple question?” Carson answered. “That’s not a simple question by any stretch of the imagination.” “I think probably what you have to do is ask a very specific question about a specific passage of the Bible and a specific portion of the Constitution. I don’t think you can answer that question other than out of very specific context,” he concluded in the brief time remaining. You can watch his answer below: In the interview, Carson called Barack Obama’s negotiations over the future of Iran’s nuclear program “perhaps the worst deal in the history of the United States.” He also praised Donald Trump’s popularity, saying that his fellow non-politician’s soaring popularity shows that voters agree “experience can come from a variety of different places,” not just participation in the political process. He said his life experiences – rising from a life of poverty to become a celebrated neurosurgeon – as well as his stints “in corporate America, starting a national non-profit,” gave him tremendous competence in “solving complex problems.”
