Man Declares Luke 23:34 Over Violent Home Invaders Who Shot Him
Mike Lash says he was on the floor, his femur shattered by the robber’s bullets. Lash’s wife had grabbed their 6-month-old baby and fled the crime scene, dialing 9-1-1 to save her husband’s life.
Lash says he was ready to die, but God intervened.
“I remember audibly praying out loud,” Lash says. “‘Lord, this is, I guess, the moment I will meet You today … if it is not Your will, I am ready to stay.'”
The violent invasion occurred in an Atlanta suburb. When the robbers reportedly knocked on the door to the Lashes’ home asking for a carjack, the Lashes say they felt the Holy Spirit tell them something was amiss.
“I had a feeling that it was an excuse and we were about to be robbed. Right about that moment I saw them pull the gun on Mike,” Lash’s wife, Whitney, tells Good Morning America.
Mike tells reporters he wouldn’t let the robbers in, so they shot him in both legs.
The gunmen didn’t back away then, though.
“I heard footsteps of someone running and two more shots that were aimed at me and my daughter,” Whitney says.
When she returned to her husband, Whitney says he was crying out to the Lord on behalf of their assailants.
“Mike’s words are still echoing in my mind as he was bleeding profusely and in excruciating pain on our floor,” Whitney reportedly said. “The amazing police and EMT were working on him while he was proclaiming Luke 23:34: ‘Forgive them Father, they know not what they have done.’ His immediate grace and forgiveness for others in the midst of life and death is a constant reminder for me as I feel anger trying to creep in.”
Friends have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the family.
“They were all shielded by God’s protective hand, as this could have turned out much worse,” according to the page.
