Philly Jesus Wants $70M to Spread the Gospel on the Big Screen

Philly Jesus wants to take his street ministry inside, but not in the way you might expect.

Michael Grant, more commonly known as “Philly Jesus” launched a gofundme for a whopping $70 million so he can “proclaim the glory of His name” to bring the gospel to the big screen.

He’s hoping to use his story for God’s glory.

“From being completely ran over by a mini-van by a ex-girlfriend in 2005, to being a local Philadelphia satanic music artist named Opal Weaver (youtube) who practiced witchcraft and addicted to shooting up heroin and smoking crack/cocaine living a dark evil selfish lifestyle of the devil for years, which eventually caught up to me,” Grant begins on gofundme.

“(I was put away ) in a court-stipulated program for 73 days where I hit rock bottom, while put away I found out that The Source of Existence Jesus Christ of Nazareth was the rock at the bottom, so I repented of my sins and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ The Son Of The Living God.”

Grant says he is now nearly three years sober and wants to use his talents, which he says includes rapping, singing, painting and dancing, to put on a production of the gospel. He says his goal is to make a movie or a theatrical play.

Nearly a year ago, Grant was arrested for “disorderly conduct,” Charisma News previously reported. But Grant’s lawyers say the charges were bogus.

“Those are charges that, in my experience, the government uses when you don’t do whatever the government wants you to do, or that the police officer wants you to do,” Grant’s lawyer Charles M. Gibbs told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Now, though, Grant’s focusing on the Great Commission.

“I have decided to dedicate my life to this artistic street ministry for the rest of my days on earth to honor and glorify one man, the man Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and to bring lost souls to Him,” Grant says.
