Welcome to The Voice, Brian Nhira!

The Oral Roberts University graduate performed Pharrell’s “Happy” during a recent episode of the Blind Auditions, getting both Blake Shelton and Pharrell himself to turn their chairs.

“My parents came here from Zimbabwe, Africa and my dad’s a traveling minister,” Nhira tells the judges. “Our family’s traveled together for 16 years of my life, and so I started singing in the church. I’m here not only to fulfill my dream but to honor my parents.”

With the birth of his music career in the church, it’s only appropriate that Nhira belted out “Jesus Loves Me” from the stage.
