Glenn Beck: ‘This Is the Priesthood Rising!’
During a rally Saturday in Provo, Utah, talk radio host Glenn Beck was trying to work up the crowd before U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) came out to speak, and in the process introduced them to a young man who is going the extra mile for his favorite presidential candidate.
“Dale is from Provo,” he said, bringing the boy on stage and wrapping his arm around him. “I met him just a few minutes ago. I want to tell you why I have hope. Dale introduced himself to me. And he didn’t tell me this, his father did. Dale has been fasting without anybody knowing it every Tuesday for the last three weeks for the right outcome in this election.
“This is the priesthood rising!”
It is a reference to 1 Samuel 2:35, which says, “And I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest; what is in My heart and in My soul he will do it. And I will build him a sure house, and it will walk before My anointed forever.” It is a reference to the fall of the House of Eli and how Jesus fulfilled the prophecy.
A rising priesthood is also a frequent element of Latter Day Saints theology. Beck, who is a Mormon, has often referenced that phrase, both on the campaign trail and on his radio and television programs.
