The ‘Tired, Broken’ Ex-Megachurch Pastor Just Found a New Job
Former megachurch pastor Pete Wilson resigned last month, and told his congregation he was “tired” and “broken.”
Wilson will be the president of the church consulting group, The A Group.
“I have known Pete for a long time and know his heart for ministry, as well as the deep knowledge and wisdom he has acquired during his time leading large, growing organizations,” CEO Maurilio Amorim said in a release. “Being able to offer his invaluable experience and counsel to other leaders is an honor.”
Wilson founded Cross Point Church in Nashville in 2003. He also authored several popular books including Plan B and Empty Promises.
He resigned Cross Point in September.
“And leaders in any realm of life, leaders who lead on empty don’t lead well and for some time now I’ve been leading on empty. And so I believe that the best thing for me to do is to step aside from Cross Point and so I am officially resigning as the pastor of Cross Point Church,” Wilson said.
“And now, more than ever before—I really need your prayers and I need your support. We’ve said that this is a church where it’s OK to not be OK, and I’m not OK. I’m tired. I’m broken, and I just need some rest. I love you guys; I love the vision of this church. The vision of this church is not me by the way.”
The A Group is a full-service marketing and technology agency that helps churches, ministries and non-profits overcome challenges and grow their reach.
