Tony Perkins: Congress Still Hasn’t Defunded Planned Parenthood
In an email to supporters on Wednesday, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins asked that they call their elected representatives in Congress to urge them to fully defund Planned Parenthood.
In light of the latest undercover videos exposing the abortion giant’s attitude toward gruesome late-term abortions, he said there’s no longer an excuse for continuing to provide taxpayer support. Passing the American Health Care Act, which has already moved out of the House of Representatives, was the best means to do that, he added.
The email, obtained by Charisma Caucus, also states:
As a nation, we are without excuse in continuing to fund these atrocities with our tax dollars. Moreover, days after the new video’s release, Planned Parenthood released its annual report, showing that while its abortions and taxpayer funding increased, its prenatal care, contraception, and screenings decreased.
Under the American Health Care Act, pro-lifers will see over $390 million (over 85 percent) of federal taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood rescinded and Obamacare gutted, stopping subsidies for health care plans that cover elective abortion. The bills “replace” components include funding restrictions on elective abortion for new tax credits to purchase health insurance and all other funding streams for health care. These House-passed pro-life provisions must be retained and supported in the Senate version which, as a budget bill, can pass with just 51 votes!
Perkins urged his supporters to call and email their senators to push for a vote on the AHCA legislation. {eoa}
