Government Takes Big Step Toward Real Progress With Welfare Reform

Share:

On Monday, President Donald Trump signed the executive order on economic mobility, taking the first steps in decades toward welfare reform in America.

This executive order provides nine principles which will serve as a guideline for administering public assistance programs to help shape the future of the welfare system and increase opportunities for eligible individuals who are truly in need of assistance. This new program also ensures a streamlined, flexible approach to educate the public and utilize taxpayer dollars for the intended purpose.

“The executive order on economic mobility lays the groundwork for a future that guarantees active solutions to poverty issues,” said Star Parker, founder and president of The Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE). “CURE applauds our president for taking the initiative for reform. We must hold all federal and state elected officials and Cabinet members accountable on giving welfare recipients the chance to rise out of poverty.”

Star Parker had seven years of first-hand experience in the grip of welfare dependency. After consulting on federal Welfare Reform in the mid-90s, she founded UrbanCure to bring new ideas to policy discussions on how to transition America’s poor from government dependency.

“We are enthusiastic, as Americans, that our president is taking the necessary steps to guarantee an opportunistic future for all eligible persons,” Parker says. {eoa)
