Prophetic Word: There’s a Fire in the House

I just returned from a five-day prayer assignment in Washington, D.C., when I received a call from my friend, Kim Potter, founder of A New Thing Ministries.

“Karen, the Lord told me to call you and share something with you that just happened.”

Kim went on to share how she had recently helped an older couple split wood in order to prepare for winter. As she said that phrase, it exploded in my spirit, but there was more.

“Karen, as I picked up the logs and set them in the splitter, the man began to say to me, ‘In order to have a good fire in the house, one that will burn continually, you need big wood and small wood.'”

I reflected on that word and thought of the previous five days as my team and I walked through many historic and political places of our nation’s capital to decree the Word of the Lord. During that time, we went to the Capital Building two different times to pray after hours. The last time we prayed on the House floor where our federal senators and representatives debate and vote. It was a strategic position.

“You must have big wood and small wood in order to have a good fire in the house.”

I heard the word “house” in two different ways.

The biggest and most volatile battle as we head into the mid-term elections is in the House of Representatives. Our majority is slim. If just 24 seats shift, the majority will also shift. There are many races that are in the balance.

The Lord said, “It’s time to kindle a fire in the house.”

When we entered the Capitol, we entered through the “members only” entrance and then went into areas typically closed to the public. We walked right past “Authorized Access Only” signs as we had been given authorization to enter. Why, because my friend, Tracy Bost, wife of Representative Mike Bost, R-Ill., was part of our prayer team. She wore a pin on her lapel which identified her as a member’s spouse, giving us access to closed areas.

Know this, that as we enter this time in history, we have been given access to the high places to draw a red blood line in the spirit that will also be drawn in the natural. We wear identification in the spirit realm to do battle in the courts of heaven. We march right past those signs of “authorized access only” because we have been granted permission to enter, and we walk with authority into those realms.

“Let us then come with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16).

There are many who see the “authorized access only” signs and stop or step back. Do not believe the lie that you are to remain silent or that you cannot go into certain areas. You have been granted access as you are marked and identified as one that can walk right in. You need to recognize that it is time to boldly walk into those realms. Now is the time to enter and speak out and declare in both the spirit and in the natural. We are to speak to the dry bones to live. To call down idolatry and pride from the high places that has set itself in opposition to the Lord.

When we speak His word and declare His plans and purposes, hope is imparted, courage begins to burn and a flame is kindled. Do not be afraid. Do not be silenced. For He has said:

For the Almighty shall be your defense. You shalt have plenty of silver (provision in hard times for the days ahead.)

“For then you will have your delight in the Almighty, and lift up your face unto God. You will make your prayer to Him, He will Heart you, And you will pay your vows. You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways” (Job. 22:26-28).

“It takes both small logs and big logs to create a good fire that will burn continually.”

We must not be so hyper focused on the “big” logs that we forget the kindling and small logs that are required to start the fire. I believe the kindling refers to our city elections, state questions, justices and officials on the city level. The kindling is what starts the fire. It is an essential part and must not be forgotten. Otherwise the fire cannot take hold.

The small logs refer to our state and federal elections for the governors, senators and representatives at the state and federal level as well as the almost 200 judges that President Trump is in the process of appointing to the appellate courts, federal courts and district courts across our land. The “small logs” are just as essential to this fire. If we win the federal, but lose within our states, we cannot have a “good fire in the house.” It requires all levels.

The “big” logs, I believe, refer to our president, vice president, Cabinet members and Supreme Court. Once the fire is going, in order to keep a fire blazing, big logs must be added for the fire to continually burn. There is a continued force that has determined it will remove the “big logs” which will make the fire go out if successful in removing them. The fire can only continue as we continue to pray and intercede on their behalf. We do battle in the heavenlies to enable them to do battle here on earth. I see the hands of godly leaders that have been tied behind their backs. As we continue to pray, these chains are falling to the ground, and there will be freedom to get things done.

The final word is that “it is time to prepare for winter.”

Bitterly cold times are ahead in our nation (I’m not speaking of natural temperatures), and we must be prepared. We must keep the fire burning through intercession. Once the election takes place, many will want to step back and take a breath and think the major battle is over. But it has only just begun.

What you will see in the days ahead will cause many to grow faint as war rages. It will require that we link arms together to withstand the onslaught and fury. The enemy is enraged and after the elections will be more so. The spirit of pride is the strongman that has enabled offense and deception to blind the eyes of many, who believe they are working for justice and love but have stood in opposition. The release of anger that has turned to rage and finally, insanity and murder, are the indicators. It is all around us.

This is the strongman (pride) which must be brought down that the eyes of understanding will be opened. As that happens, many will wonder at how they could have been blinded from the truth, yet there will still be many who refuse and double down in their pride as they continue to stand in defiance saying, “I will never…”

Pride always opens the door to offence and deception which are twins. One does not operate without the other. However, the very nature of deception is that when we are in it, we cannot see it and deny it.

How can we be free? How can we know? Simply ask. “Lord, open my eyes to what You see. Open my eyes to see from your perspective. Show me if there is any pride operating in my life and let not the foot of pride come upon me.”

If we truly want to know and will pray that, God will show us for no one is exempt from this demonic attack.

This is a call for preparation and strength. It is time to prepare for winter. It is time to light the fire so that it will continually burn, for there is to be an ongoing fire in the house.
