How God Brought Growth After Gordon Lindsay’s Death

Share:

Freda LindsayWhen Christ for the Nations founder Gordon Lindsay died suddenly in 1973, his wife, Freda, reluctantly became president.

Some doubted the two-year charismatic Bible school would survive six months. But they were wrong.

When Lindsay died March 25 at the age of 95, the Dallas-based institute had trained more than 32,000 graduates, planted 12,000 churches worldwide and established 48 associate Bible schools in 33 nations.

In addition, 60 million copies of Gordon Lindsay’s discipleship books had been distributed worldwide.

In a January 1984 cover story in Charisma, Lindsay described a simple outlook on ministry: “I had one little plant that looked like it really wasn’t going to make it, and several times I almost threw it away. But one day it began to bloom, and now it’s the prettiest I have. People are a lot like that little plant. I look at them and think, What a mess. But God doesn’t see them that way. Sometimes the most unlikely turn out to do the most for God.”
