How Christians Are Contributing to Plight of Post-Truth Culture

Share:

In John 18:38b, Pilate asked Jesus, “What is truth?” In what former Muslim and author Abdu Murray calls a “post-truth” era, people are no longer denying that truth exists, but instead saying they don’t care. This, he says, is harder to discuss—people elevate their preferences over facts.

“They’re saying, ‘No, there is truth, and if the truth lines up with my preferences, then I’ll be all set,'” says Murray, senior vice president of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. “But if the truth happens to knock against my preferences, I’ll either lie about it or ignore it altogether.”

Murray says Christians can contribute to this plight by making the gospel palatable and compromising on biblical values, or by sharing the gospel without love.
