Why So Many People Who Go Through Deliverance Still Aren’t Free

One of the most common complaints I receive as a deliverance minister is that the people have gone through deliverance and are still not free. The people who seek me for deliverance have sought several other deliverance ministers before me and they still are not walking in the fullness of their freedom.

In deliverance, we need to pull out root causes, eradicate legal rights and cast out the demons associated with the affliction or infirmity. So, what might deliverance ministry be missing?

When people come to me seeking deliverance and frustrated that they haven’t been set free, I ask them, “Has anyone or have you ever said, “Spirit of (identify and insert spirit’s name) get out, in Jesus’ name”? I am repeatedly astounded at the number of people who reply, “No.” We need to release demons the way Jesus did in the Bible by casting them out. He spoke to each demon, took authority over it and cast it out.

“Be silent and come out of him!” (Mark 1:25b).

“Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” (Mark 5:8b).

“You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and enter him no more” (Mark 9:25b).

We aren’t receiving part of our freedom because we aren’t following the very example Jesus came to model. In my podcast, Prophetic Spiritual Warfare, I teach the ministry of deliverance from the Gospels’ standpoint and the way Jesus took His authority over evil spirits.

I believe a lot of our deliverance could begin in our own homes by our desire to change our habits, release forgiveness to others and cast out the correlating demon. It is simple. Speak audibly, “Spirit of rejection, go in Jesus’ name. Spirit of lust, get out in Jesus’ name. Spirit of (insert what you are struggling with), I break agreement with you, and I command you to get out of me in Jesus’ name.”

Deliverance can be defined differently according to people’s and ministry leaders’ beliefs, denominations and churches. A church having “deliverance” in its name does not mean it believes in casting out demons. Deliverance is defined as liberation and freedom, which can be from mindsets, behavior patterns and closing the doors to our past and not all of that is demonic. Some of it is fleshly.

Instead of seeking a deliverance minister, try seeking the deliverer, Jesus Christ. Go through the Gospels and spend time in the presence of the Lord. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you through the deliverance process. Cast out the demon as Jesus did. I have a saying, “If in doubt, cast it out.” If you don’t know whether it is demonic or not, at least try saying, “Get out, in Jesus’ name.” If it goes and you feel a shift, lighter or felt something leave you, great! If not, you only wasted a few words and seconds to try casting something out that wasn’t there.

When we get back to the way Jesus did deliverance, people will be set free. {eoa}
