Dick Simmons

Christian Pioneer Mobilizes 1 Million Men to Pray for Election

In 1967, Dick Simmons had a vision. God told him that if he would mobilize 100,000 men to pray, America could be saved.

Dick Simmons is the classic “been there—done that,” beginning with living in New York with Pat Robertson and the birth of the Christian Broadcasting Network. He then helped David Wilkerson start World Challenge and was part of the beginning of the National Prayer Breakfast along with Abraham Vereide, Harald Bredesen and Bob Walker, the founder of Christian Life magazine, the predecessor of Charisma.

In 1965, Simmons moved to Seattle and began Men For Nations to fulfill the vision, and the organization Women’s Aglow started in his living room. He also began a ministry to prisoners by matching them with a believer on the outside who could meet with, encourage and bless them.

In 1980, after Pat Boone’s introduction, he joined the Reagan transition team, and his ministry to prisoners expanded. In 1994, Simmons and his beloved wife, Barbara, moved to Washington, D.C., to fulfill the vision at the center of power. They moved into a building directly across from the Senate and the Supreme Court, creating “The War Room” to mobilize prayer.

As he began to mobilize men to pray, God spoke to Simmons again and this time told him that now it would take 500,000 men to save America, as the situation had worsened . And still more recently, also in prayer, God told him it would now take 1 million men to save the country, as he shares in his upcoming book, Man for the Nations.

“Why 1 million men?” is the first question people ask. Simmons says, “That is the number of precious children who lose their lives every year through abortion.” And what burdens his heart is the sad fact that nearly 62 million children have lost their lives since the passage of Rove v. Wade, which legalized the killing of babies—now approximately 1 million every year.

Simmons is stubborn in his vision that men need to take the leadership to protect the unborn and to lead America back. He has no problem with women, but he says, “Whenever you go to a prayer meeting, it is all women. That is fine, but we need men to be in the vanguard of prayer.” He concentrates on mobilizing men to restore the balance with his famous “Bootcamp” seminars held throughout the country and now being put online to mobilize men to pray.

“Or why was I not like a hidden stillborn child, like infants who never saw light?” (Job 3:16).

As Stephen Strang, bestselling author of God, Trump and COVID-19 says, “I believe one of the most important issues is life of the unborn. I believe God’s heart would be for life.”

A little over a month before the election, the beloved Dick Simmons puts out the call, “I am asking once again for 1 million men to commit themselves to pray for America that we can come back to God. God always responds with spiritual awakening and revival when we pray, and He will do it again.”

Can 1 million men on their knees change the results of the election? Christian prayer icon Dick Simmons believes they can. If 1 million men can be mobilized to vote, we will again have hope for continuing the march to restore America and stop the 1 million deaths of precious children each year. {eoa}
