Dystopian Novel ‘1984’ Is Now Top-Selling Book on Amazon Following Big Tech Purge
Following the recent purge by Big Tech companies, which resulted in President Donald J. Trump being banished from Twitter and restricted on Facebook, Amazon is reporting that its overall top-selling book is 1984, which ironically is an old novel that portrays a society completely controlled by the government “thought police.”
The book being thrust to the No. 1 spot is no doubt from the fallout of all the social media accounts suspended and being banned. The Big Tech move also resulted in Parler being scrubbed and the formation of a grassroots organization for disenchanted Democrats called “WalkAway.”
According to a report from Just the News: “As of Sunday morning, Amazon book sales showed that the top-selling book is the dystopian novel published by George Orwell more than 70 years ago. The classic novel, published in 1949, depicts how the government Thought Police eavesdrop on citizens in their own homes, searching for heresy of any kind.
Anyone whose beliefs deviate from the official norm is declared an “unperson” who “never existed.” Consequently, many of the reviews on Amazon drew parallels between the book’s plot and current events in the United States.
“Born and living in communist Romania, I went through the same ordeal described in 1987,” wrote Constantin Turculet, who is listed as making a verified purchase. “After 40 years, I managed to escape to America, only to find after 35 years of living in freedom that this country is pushed toward the same horror scenario I thought mankind will never forget.” {eoa}
