After 1 Month, Disney’s ‘Modern’ Snow White Is a Disaster

Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White has turned out to be one of the studio’s most humiliating failures — and it’s a cautionary tale for what happens when a company trades timeless truth for modern ideology.

As reported by The Gateway Pundit, “Woke Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White, released on Mar. 19, has already ended its box office run by late April, cementing its place as one of Hollywood’s biggest flops.”

With a sky-high production budget of $250–270 million and marketing costs estimated at $140 million, the film “needs to gross at least $427 million worldwide just to break even.” Instead, the film has “grossed approximately $195.2 million worldwide,” projecting a brutal financial loss of “around $115 million for Disney,” and possibly even more if reshoot costs bump the total production figure to $350 million.

It’s not just about bad numbers — it’s about what they represent. Disney has stripped away nearly every Christian moral or symbolic thread from its original 1937 animated masterpiece. That version included a scene of Snow White kneeling at her bedside in prayer, humbly asking God to bless her new friends and even soften Grumpy’s heart. It was a subtle, sweet moment of childlike faith.

Compare that to the new film, where the lead actress Rachel Zegler dismissed the classic entirely, saying the original Prince was a “stalker” and “weird,” and boasted that the remake would be a “feminist overhaul” where Snow White becomes a “leader” rather than falling in love.

Even the son of the film’s own producer couldn’t stand it. “Jonah Platt — son of the film’s own producer, Marc Platt — blasted lead actress Rachel Zegler on social media, blaming her for dragging down the film with her ‘immature’ and ‘narcissistic’ behavior during the press tour,” the article noted.

Meanwhile, audiences voted with their wallets. The movie was trounced in its second weekend by faith-based films, with The Chosen: Last Supper outperforming it: “The Chosen had $5,103,354 in ticket sales, while Snow White had $3,700,000 in ticket sales.”

Here’s the bitter truth: when Disney abandoned the values that made Snow White beloved — humility, purity and yes, even prayer — they didn’t just lose their moral compass; they also lost their audience. They mocked the past, rewrote the story to suit a fleeting cultural agenda and ended up with what The Gateway Pundit calls a loss that “could lose a quarter of a BILLION dollars for Disney.”

This is what happens in societies, and stories, that reject God.

In the name of “progress,” Disney removed the very soul of its original film. In doing so, they didn’t just fail financially. They illustrated a spiritual truth: when you cast out the light, you’re left in darkness. As Romans 1 warns, “Professing to be wise, they became fools.”

Let that be a lesson, not just to filmmakers, but to all of us.
