CeCe Winans Talks Unity, Faith and Waiting on God
Recently, Grammy award-winning artist CeCe Winans addressed several issues close to her heart, including the division that has infected the Christian church in an interview with K-LOVE.
“I think we just have to think about other people, you know,” Winans says. “I taught a message not too long ago on the Good Samaritan, and he saw first—he cared—and then he went…We have to ask the Lord to open up our eyes, and because God is about unity, we will not witness the power of God the way we need to witness it until we come together.”

In a culture that is entirely self-focused, Winans called attention to the importance of figuring out our call in life, without sacrificing the ministerial spirit that Jesus selflessly embodies. And that trusting in Jesus first and foremost is the best path forward in life.
“I just encourage people to just give your whole life, your whole plan to Him,” says Winans. “When you submit your plan to Him, you really don’t know where you’re going to be, but you know it’s going to be good because He’s over it.”
What Winans is putting forth to Christians is the embodiment of faith. As the Word of God says in 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” So if we wait on God until He reveals every aspect of our lives before we move forward, we aren’t walking in faith, we are waiting in faithlessness.
God has given us countless examples in the Bible that the Christian life is an active one, and that we are to walk out our faith daily, moving the kingdom of God forward, not stagnating in the same place or even moving backwards.
There are certainly times of waiting, such as what Winans experienced as she held onto her song “Alabaster Box” for years before releasing it to the public, years that she was not idle during.
“I focus on whether or not I can deliver it in a way that allows God to flow through it and touch people,” Winans explained. “I always ask, ‘Lord, how do You want me to present this? Is this the right song? Is this the right song for right now?'”
Even when we do not understand the current season that we are in and things in our lives aren’t taking place as we imagine, we can have peace in knowing that God is in control, as we are told in Romans 8:28: “We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
