Charisma News Brief: Hundreds of Students Baptized at Auburn University

Share:

Around 200 students were baptized at Auburn University during a Night of Worship event where speaker Jennie Allen gave a message that ended with dozens of students raising their hands to get baptized when asked if they were ready for this next step of commitment in their relationship to Christ.

“Last night I finished a message at Auburn and was off stage and a student texted the pastor beside me [that] they wanted to be baptized tonight,” Allen wrote on Instagram. “So I went back on stage and asked if anyone else wanted to trust Christ and be baptized. Dozens raised their hands.”

Between six and 10 people helped to baptize the hundreds of students who were ready to take that next step. This even included Auburn’s head football coach, Hugh Freeze. Instead of baptizing students in a baptistry, the baptisms took place in a lake by Auburn’s Red Barn.

“People surrounded the lake til almost midnight hearing the stories of life change and shouting and cheering and praying together,” Allen wrote. “God is moving and He isn’t stopping.”

This event comes later the same year as the Asbury Revival that erupted across the nation with students experiencing salvation and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. It had such an impact on students that people from across the country came to check it out and bring it back to their own hometowns.

“We had 600 people show up, and they ended up going for 53 hours in downtown Minneapolis,” Evangelist Nick Hall recalled from when he started his own event following the revival. “Repentance, healing … literal addictions being broken, marriages being healed.”

As revival comes to our nation, we can be praying for those who are committing their lives to Christ that they would experience freedom and grow to be the men and women that God always intended for them to become. {eoa}
