Charisma News Brief: Kirk Cameron Says Christians Have a Seat at the American Cultural Table
Kirk Cameron isn’t crusading against the “woke mob” and cancel culture just to get his name into the media spotlight. He’s genuinely concerned that believers and conservatives in America have been pushed to the side, and he says it’s about time that trend stops.
Cameron, who has held Christian storybook hour events at numerous public libraries this year, has inspired the first national “See You at the Library” book reading event this Saturday, where Americans at 260 libraries in 44 states have booked rooms at public libraries for faith-filled, family-focused and patriotic events.
While Cameron has played a huge part in initiating the movement across America, he told Fox News Digital that “See You at the Library” is all about “passing the baton to people.”
“Conservatives and Christians have complained that they don’t have a seat at the cultural table in America as of late,” Cameron says. “Well, we have a seat now.”
Fox News reported that a list of senators and other elected officials are supporting the gathering, including Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. Governors, mayors and city commissioners have also thrown their political weight behind the event.
Cameron himself says he will make surprise “drop-ins” to some of the libraries, and accompanying him will be Riley Gaines, a former University of Kentucky Olympic swimmer who has become a leading voice in the fight to keep transgender athletes out of women’s sports.
Specifically, Gaines will talk about the importance of protecting the innocence of children in sports.
“This is exactly what the progressive groups do,” Cameron says. “They organize their communities, they assemble all of their activists and they gather in places to push their values and their agenda. Now, it’s our turn. We have the numbers and we have the better ideas—and people are showing that they have the passion and the determination to show up on Aug .5.”
Social media posts have predicted pushback for the events. Fox News reported that there are “threats of interruptions by drag queen performers and those representing LGBTQ points of view and other alternative beliefs.”
In his book “Never Give Up,” author Michael Youssef shows you how to hold fast to biblical truth in times of danger and despair. {eoa}
