Former Lesbian: Netflix Documentary Claims It’s God’s Intention for Some to Be Gay
The ex-leaders from Exodus International have participated in a Netflix documentary claiming it is God’s intention for them and others to be gay.
That statement is blasphemous to the Holy Spirit and far from being biblical, and they know it. The bottom line is that Julie Rogers, Randy Thomas, Michael Busse and John Paulk did not deal with the issues that lured them into the homosexual life and identity. “Temptations come from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away” (James 1:14, NLT).
The title of the Netflix documentary is Pray Away. This title is meant to mislead and corrupt the minds of many who are seeking freedom from sin. Any ministry that reaches out to those living a gay lifestyle involves more than just “praying away the gay.” The film’s producers are not sharing the whole truth about this kind of ministry.
Yes, we are called to pray. But we are also called to repent and walk in holiness. This involves not only praying to Almighty God for discipline, but walking in that righteousness while we pray. The Bible exhorts us as Christians to put on the whole armor of God (Eph. 6: 11-18).
This is so important today in a world where the lust of the flesh is celebrated in ways that would cause even the devil himself to blush. Homosexuality is a sin of the flesh, and to walk away from such a lifestyle, one must be prepared to use the tools God has given us to fight the flesh.
In my own walk away from the gay lifestyle, I had to first repent of my sins and ask Jesus Christ to come into my heart. Step by step, with some aid from my local church and support from loved ones, I was able to walk away from lesbianism.
I am happy to say today that I have been made free through the blood of Jesus Christ and will remain free through the power of the Holy Spirit working in me. This is the truth of the ministry we preach; this is what those caught in any sin want-freedom! Jesus delivers from sin, and when we are born again in Christ, we become a new creation.
When we accept Jesus Christ into our heart, we are born again through Him. We have become a new creation; therefore, we should turn away from anything that keeps us in bondage. In the New Testament, Paul tells us “It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows” (Gal. 5:13, MSG).
My freedom from homosexuality didn’t happen overnight. It was a process of continual sanctification.
Randy Thomas and Alan Chambers chose to close the doors of Exodus International and become apostates to the Christian faith. This doesn’t mean others will walk away and follow their apostasy. I am tired of the failed former Exodus leaders targeting those of us who choose to faithfully serve the Lord.
I am coming out swinging because they have done enough damage by lying to people to justify their desire to continue to live as gay men or lesbian women. They love sin more than they love God. And where does that get anyone? Nowhere but an eternity absent from God in hell.
They are hypocrites, dragging the vulnerable into their darkness. In their current state of iniquity, they are targeting those remaining faithful, those of us with ministries that proclaim freedom from sin and transformation of mind and heart in Jesus Christ. I’ve got news for them: We are going to stand up to the bullying and persecution and refuse to be silenced by them or the army of darkness they’ve joined. “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death” (Rev. 12:11, MEV).
Those of us who have left the lifestyle of homosexuality have become ambassadors for Jesus Christ. We are proud to serve the Lamb of God who was slain for our sins. We are happy to do the good works God has destined for us in Christ Jesus. No Netflix documentary will silence or stop those of us who have been called by God to preach freedom through the power of Jesus Christ.
No mocking or accusations against the followers of Jesus Christ will stop us from walking in God’s power over sin. We’ve counted the cost, and we are walking in our destiny to teach and preach to the lost. We are all-in for Jesus and the freedom He provides.
We will continue to evangelize and make disciples of all nations as Jesus commands. Where He leads, we will follow. He has set us free and empowered us to set others free, and for that we give Him all the glory, honor and praise. {eoa}
