The resurgence of interest in the book of Enoch, which discusses fallen angels coming to Earth and breeding a race of giants, adds to the complexity of the UFO and alien discourse within biblical research.

Despite these speculations, Pope mentioned that the Catholic Church has “no doctrinal objection” to the existence of alien life, emphasizing that “man may place no creative limits upon God.” He suggested that NASA’s funding of theological conferences is a precautionary measure to navigate potential conflicts between science and religion, avoiding a repeat of historical confrontations seen in the Middle Ages, and similar to earlier research undertaken and published by the Brookings Institute in 1960.
