One key point Healy notes is how we see angels described for different purposes in Scripture. Healy explains that the presence of angels is one way God reveals His kingdom.
“It’s this idea of God peeling back the veil and saying, ‘Here’s what my kingdom looks like. Here’s the way inner workings of how I’m operating,’ and that’s where you get these moments like Isaiah seeing this vision of the train of the Lord’s robe filling the temple and just continuing,” says Healy.
Not only do angels show us what the glory of God is like, but Healy also says that when we align with God’s will and follow His calling, our angels work alongside us to accomplish the things God has prepared for us.
“One thing I do see constantly is when people are doing the things that God has designed them to do, angels are constantly partnering with them doing that thing,” Healy says. “That can be traditional ministry things that we think of like leading worship or preaching or praying for folks or things of that nature, but it’s also in all the other…things that we’re called to in life like working and operating in our families, interacting with others…in our day-to-day lives.”
It is the creatures that Healy calls “personal angels” who partner with us in these things. These angels are what some may consider to be guardian angels, however, Healy says these angels have a mission and a focus on that one person for the duration of the individual’s life. While the question comes up about communicating with angels and whether or not Christians should or should not be commanding them, Healy says that we must keep in mind that Jesus is first and foremost our intermediary, and that angels are not to be treated as such.

“I do hesitate to do anything that would put an angel between me and the Lord,” Healy says.
As we seek to understand and learn more about the spiritual realm, it is key that we remember Jesus is Lord of all, that it is Him who took away our sins and that there is no power or principality greater than Him.
