Ryan Howard with former President Donald Trump

Is Trump God’s Chosen Instrument?

Share:

I recently met and prayed in private with Donald Trump, along with a dozen other ministry leaders, before he went on stage in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The opportunity came shortly after I endorsed Trump for president, an endorsement also made by more than 200 faith leaders across the state of Iowa. While many Christian leaders have come to recognize Trump as the one whom God has chosen to lead America in this hour, others in America wonder how anyone could support Trump at all, let alone endorse him.

So, the question is, why have so many faith leaders endorsed Trump for president?

Decades ago, politics had a middle ground where people could have reasonable discussion. For the most part, both sides wanted the same outcomes and only disagreed on how to accomplish them.

Today is very different.

Globalists want to radically change the nation, including its values and its place on the world stage. Many in the middle want to “play nice” and just go along to get along. But that approach is what has gotten us into the trouble we are in today.

Christians and conservatives have simply played too much defense and not enough offense. We must recognize that the game we are playing is not politics as usual.

In fact, this is not even about politics, it’s about good versus evil.

But what role does Trump play in all of this?

The question is, who will do the most good for the nation? Which candidate will push the nation toward its founding principles of freedom, rights and principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?

The answer is Trump. Trump is fighting for the heart of America and has already taken steps to return the government to “We the People.”

We cannot forget how God used different government leaders in the Bible to bless His people. God used Cyrus to allow the Jews to return to Israel after 70 years in captivity. God used the Persian king Artaxerxes to allow Nehemiah to rebuild Israel’s wall.

No one in the Bible viewed either Cyrus or Artaxerxes as a savior. And contrary to the baited claims of the left today, no one views Trump as a savior. Trump is simply a chosen instrument in God’s hand for today.

The left will continue to attempt to paint Christians as compromising values or claiming that we view Trump as a savior. But we don’t need to be distracted by the claims or even engage with them.

The fact remains that Trump is different from other candidates who so often talk about biblical values but forget about those values after they’re elected. Trump made promises and kept promises, including those based on biblical values.

Trump has taken historic action to advance Christian interests in our government. He ended unjustified wars and started zero wars. He appointed hundreds of federal Constitutionalist judges, including three to the Supreme Court who overturned Roe v. Wade. He was the first president to attend the March for Life in Washington, D.C., and he reinstated the Mexico City Policy.

Trump took action to protect the U.S. southern border. He stood with Israel and moved the American embassy to Jerusalem, something previous presidents only talked about. He protected the free speech rights of pastors and pro-life activists. He repealed the unconstitutional Johnson Amendment that violated free speech in politics.

Many today are laser-focused on certain aspects of Trump’s past or his approach, which can be more aggressive than they prefer, all while ignoring the many pro-Christian policies he enacted and ignoring the anti-Christian policies of so many other leaders.

The church cannot afford to remain disengaged. It’s time for the church to take its rightful territory and disciple this nation once again in the public square.

While God appointed Artaxerxes to clear the path for Nehemiah to return to Israel, God’s people still had to do the work to rebuild the wall. Today is no different. While God is appointing leaders who will clear the path for the church, God’s people must do the work to rebuild the foundation of our nation.

The discipleship of America cannot be completed inside the four walls of church buildings. It must be done by all believers representing God’s interests in the marketplace, in the culture, in our communities and in our homes.

All believers must rise and take their own stand to advance the kingdom. {eoa}
