Jezebel’s Spirit in This Militant Agenda Is Pervasive
Even as the abortion rate in the United States has declined steadily over the past several decades, “Planned Parenthood’s share of the annual abortions in the nation has continued to increase,” National Review recently reported after the abortion provider released its annual report for the 2018-2019 fiscal year.
“In 2018,” the outlet reported, “Planned Parenthood facilities performed 345,672 abortions, an increase of more than 13,000 abortions from what the group reported for the previous fiscal year. That’s also the highest number of abortions that the group has ever performed in a single year since it began reporting its abortion data.”
Perhaps National Review summarized it best with its bold headline: “Planned Parenthood’s New Annual Report Proves Abortion Is Its Mission.”
The abortion statistics for Planned Parenthood don’t come as a shock to author and national radio host Dr. Michael Brown. In his popular book, Jezebel’s War with America: The Plot to Destroy Our Country and What We Can Do to Turn the Tide, Brown writes that America’s militant pro-abortion agenda is evident because the evil spirit of Queen Jezebel, a demonically controlled woman from the Bible, is still operating in America today.
“We have aborted nearly 61 million babies since 1973, almost equal to the combined populations of Peru and Venezuela and more than the population of England, and all by violent means,” Brown says. “What kind of wickedness is this? Yet for many Americans this is a hidden sin, something done behind closed doors in a ‘women’s health clinic’ or the like, out of sight and out of mind. And as our hearts get harder and harder, we have fewer and fewer problems with even the most extreme forms of abortion, particularly late-term abortions. That’s why, when New York passed its radical, proabortion law in early 2019, allowing abortions up to the moment before delivery if desired, the legislators cheered and One World Trade Center was lit up in pink.
“But Jezebel is aggressive,” Brown continues. “She is obsessed. She is determined. ‘I must have my right to abort!’ Abortion is considered a matter of ‘reproductive justice.’ But sexual immorality, idolatry and abortion is a threefold cord that is not easily broken. It is as old as Jezebel, and even older, and it brought Israel under the wrath of God. How close is our nation to experiencing the fury of God’s wrath? To ignore that question is to bury our heads in the sand. America is teetering ever closer to collapse.”
Not all news, however, is negative. According to the Guttmacher Institute, between 2011 and 2017, the number of abortions declined by 19% in the United States. And Operation Rescue also reported this week that 36 abortion facilities closed nationwide in 2019, and since 2013, 367 surgical abortion facilities have permanently closed.
“This year’s closures represent a staggering 79% drop in the number of surgical abortion facilities nationwide since 1991, when there were 2,176 surgical abortion facilities,” the group also shared.
Brown notes that this good news is due in part to the fact that more Americans are waking up to the evil of abortion, including abortion providers, from doctors to nurses to security guards. And many women who had abortions have become pro-life champions.
“Abortion on demand could be largely eradicated from our land if God’s people simply got involved,” he adds. “As theologian Francis Schaeffer reportedly put it, ‘Every abortion clinic should have a sign in front of it saying, “Open by the permission of the church.”‘ How these words cut to the heart! What then can we do? We should first repent for our corporate hardness and indifference. Then we should get involved however we can—from praying to supporting pro-life clinics to sharing the gospel in front of abortion mills to running for office to voting for pro-life candidates to adopting unwanted babies and more. And we should offer God’s mercy to all those guilty of the sin of abortion. The blood of Jesus can cleanse this ugly stain too.
“But let us not lose sight of the urgency of the hour and the magnitude of our sin,” Brown concludes. “Our heavenly Father hears the silent cries of these slaughtered little ones, and as their sliced-up, burned-up, and torn-up body parts pile up in trash bins—or, worse still, are sold for profit—their blood shouts aloud to heaven. As we cast our glance around the world, the cry of their blood is constant and penetrating and unrelenting. Yes, ‘abortion was the number one cause of death worldwide in 2018, with more than 41 million children killed before birth.’ How much longer will the Lord restrain His anger? Jezebel must be defeated.”
Jezebel’s War with America focuses on the fact that the spirit of the biblical figure Jezebel is at work today, through a fascination with witchcraft and sorcery, radical feminism coupled with the extreme pro-abortion movement, along with other spiritual and cultural forces in an attempt destroy America. Brown’s eye-opening book not only unveils a satanic plot, beginning with an all-out assault on the church, but it will equip every believer with tools to defeat the enemy in their own personal lives as well as in the nation. {eoa}
