Mysterious New Disease Has Experts Baffled

Share:

Originally appearing in December of 2016, Havana Syndrome is a name given to a perceived illness in which those stricken by it experience strange symptoms.

It first appeared in Havana Cuba, where, “Diplomats and CIA officers at the US Embassy in Havana began to report mysterious symptoms. Dozens were suddenly and without warning falling ill with headaches, fatigue, hearing and vision loss, severe debilitating cognitive impairment, tinnitus, brain fog, vertigo, and los of motor control.” It is also reported that over, “200 more diplomats, spies, DOD, and NSC personnel, from US embassies around the world and at home, have experienced some or all of this cluster of symptoms.”

With the mainstream news being dominated by COVID-19 and the vaccination role out, you may not have heard of Havana Syndrome.

However, on August 25 of this year, it was reported that United States Vice President Kamala Harris, experienced Havana Syndrome symptoms while on an international trip in Singapore on her way to Vietnam.

One would think that if a mystery disease affected the Vice President of the United States, the medical community in America would have figured out what it is by now.

Unfortunately, that is not the case.

And while more and more reports emerge of government officials reporting their experience of the mysterious disease, there isn’t much information on what it is or what is causing it.

One recent article was published by Popular Science with the headline, “Why ‘invisible’ electromagnetic weapons may be behind Havana syndrome: An Air Force scientist who’s stood in the path of a ‘heat ray’ explains.” Sounds far fetched to you? These are headlines straight out of a science fiction novel, and yet, in 2021, it’s one of the best ideas that are currently out there.

If you don’t like the “heat ray” theory, perhaps you would like the theory most recently published by Yahoo! News which states, “The ‘most likely source’ of the mysterious ‘Havana syndrome’ are crickets … The JASON Group, an independent organization of scientists that has advised the US government since the Cold War, had carried out a study in 2018 that pointed to crickets as the source of the mysterious syndrome.”

However, not everyone is convinced.

Dr. Robert Bartholomew, a medical sociology expert, recently told the Daily Mail that he’s convinced the “disease” is a case of “mass delusion.”

“There is more evidence for Bigfoot than there is for Havana Syndrome. The evidence overwhelmingly points to mass hysteria, or as it is commonly referred to by scientists – mass psychogenic illness. Havana Syndrome is a result of incompetent government officials and bad science. I would go so far as to rename it Havana Syndrome Delusion.”

The US Government seems to believe the source of the ailments is crickets, an Air Force scientists claims it’s a heat ray, Dr. Bartholomew believes it is completely made up and is “mass delusion” but the National Academies of Sciences, “In a report last year, concluded that the symptoms were likely caused by directed microwave energy.”

This seems to be put into the category of the unknown for the time being.

While COVID-19 and all its variants continue to dominate political and media coverage, Havana Syndrome is plaguing people around the world and no one really seems to know what is causing it. {eoa}
