Pastor: Christians Get to Choose Not To Participate in a Recession
Pastor Mike Signorelli says despite our country heading into a recession, Christians have a choice whether or not to go into it along with everyone else.
“We get to choose if we participate in a recession or not,” Signorelli says. “Now, what do I mean by that? Well, listen, either you believe that your Father is the King—you know, just like David said, ‘In all my years, I’ve never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging for bread.’ Either we believe this or we don’t. And here’s the thing: I’m standing on God’s Word that all 7,000 promises that He has for us are true.”
Rather than worrying about tithing declining during the economic collapse we’re experiencing amid the COVID-19 outbreak, churches should give freely to those in need and trust that God will provide, Signorelli says on the V1 Church podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network.
“There’s a lot of churches and pastors that have been hitting me up from all over the world, literally, [saying,] ‘Pastor Mike, what are we going to do? Giving is down 57 to 60%; I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’ve got the bills stacking up,'” Signorelli says. “And I said, ‘Listen, this is your opportunity to become more like Christ.’ And they’re like, ‘Well, what do you mean by that?’
“I mean, this is a chance for your church to give—not just for your church to ask your church to be generous. We have a chance for the world to see how generous V1 church is, that they reexamine the reality of the Resurrection. They say human nature says, ‘Hoard all the toilet paper.’ But regenerated gospel nature says, ‘Well, I give freely with expectation that my God’s going to supply all of my needs according to His riches in His glory.'”
