Proverbs 17:22 Shines Through Funnyman Michael Jr.’s New Film
Years ago in a crowded Michigan movie theater, a projector malfunctioned—the film snapped, the house lights came on, and, acting on a dare, a young man named Michael jumped in front of the restless crowd and took center stage. When the theater manager tried to usher him out, the audience demanded that he stay—and Michael Jr.’s unforgettable comedy career was born.
On September 27, TBN welcomes Michael Jr. to its popular Praise talk show to talk about his faith, his unique style of clean and inspirational comedy, and his upcoming film More Than Funny, which premieres October 18th in theaters nationwide.
Filmed before a live audience, More Than Funny features three real-life inspirational stories that will take movie-goers on a comedic journey they’ve likely never experienced before.
Michael Jr. said he is excited about the positive impact he believes the film will have on movie-goers.
“As we were filming More Than Funny, people in the audience were crying from laughter one minute and laughing while crying the next,” he says. “I think movie audiences will be surprised at what this event stirs up in them.”
Michael Jr. has spent his comedy career taking laughter to places where it’s needed most—like homeless shelters, rescue missions, and prisons—using his comedic gift to inspire and motivate people through sketches, stand-up, short films and appearances in feature films like the box office hit War Room. He is currently on tour across America and has appeared on programs like NBC’s The Tonight Show, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, CBS’ The Late, Late Show, and BET’s ComicView.
