Roe v. Wade is History, and Faith and Pro-Life Leaders are Rejoicing
The day has finally come. After nearly 50 years of oppression, Roe v. Wade is history.
On Friday, the United States Supreme Court ruled in the much-hyped and crucial Dobbs vs. Jackson case that effectively ended the recognition of a constitutional right to abortion. The issue is now in the hands of the states, many of whom had already set down strict rules concerning abortion.
Leaders from the faith community and for the pro-life movement are rejoicing over the painstaking decision and for the courage of the Supreme Court justices involved.
Rabbi Jonathan Cahn says he is praying for God’s restoration in America:
“Now that the Supreme Court followed through and overturned Roe v. Wade, it is the first but major step in turning back that which history will judge as a great evil,” Cahn says. “In the Bible, the 50th year is the Jubilee—the year of restitution, when that which taken is restored, and that which was done is reversed.
“The 50th Jubilean Year of Roe v. Wade in America is this year! It comes to an end Jan. 22, 2023. We pray that it be a true year of jubilee, of the saving of lives and of restoration.”
Those close to the issue, including Shawn Carney, President and CEO of the 40 Days to Life pro-life organization, say a great injustice from our country’s past has been corrected.
“We are now in the midst of history,” Carney said on a video on Twitter. “We’ve seen the Supreme Court do what they should have done, which is correct their error and overturn Roe v. Wade.
“Sadly, it is the second time the Supreme Court has had to correct their error, where they dehumanize an entire segment of our population. This time, it was not due to the color of their skin, but it was due to their size and location. As the Supreme Court overturned this law and pulled our country out of 1973 science and into the modern world, now all Americans are recognized for their God-given dignity. And for that, we rejoice.”
Today is a historic day for America where once again the Supreme Court has corrected their error of dehumanization and made freedom for all Americans. The moment is here and we are ready!

On Twitter, the National Right to Life organization said it all: “IT IS GONE.” National Right to Life committee president Carol Tobias said, “Today, the Supreme Court of the United States correctly decided that the right to kill pre-born children is not in the U.S. Constitution. This is a great day for unborn children and their mothers. We look forward to building a culture of life in this country that promotes and respects the lives of both mother and child.”

Evangelist Franklin Graham tweeted: “This is one of the most significant rulings in my lifetime. It was egregiously wrong from the start, as stated by Justice Samuel Alito.”
Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and the senior pastor of New Season Church, told Charisma News that the Christian community still has a lot of work to do to show pro-abortionists God’s love and compassion.
“This long, dark night officially comes to an end,” Rodriguez says. “The unconscionable injustice of extreme abortion policies—aligning the U.S. with countries like North Korea and China—is over. Praise God. We must now put the same energy into demonstrating mercy and compassion as we have in our activism. Now is the time for the people of God to step up, proving they are comprehensively pro-life from the womb to the tomb, with actions that dignify, care for and protect the lives of mothers, children and families.
“We must be the hands and feet. Now is the time to unleash the greatest adoption movement in American history. Now is the time to come alongside women making difficult decisions and provide the necessary spiritual, emotional, relational and economic support necessary to undergird the continuum of life designed by God for all his children.”
Jentenzen Franklin, senior pastor of Free Chapel, a multi-campus church, said:
“This is a remarkable answer to the prayers of millions of people for decades. I honestly never dreamed in my lifetime I would see this happen. We do not gloat or dare say anything but praise to our God for this courageous and just decision by the Supreme Court. Now we must support, love and demonstrate God’s grace and goodness to would-be mothers and the precious children this decision has rescued.”
Ben Carson, former secretary of Housing and Urban Development under then-president Donald Trump, tweeted: “Today, the Supreme Court of the United States of America made a statement to the world that life matters. This decision is a monumental win for our nation and for the millions of unborn children who will grace this earth because of it.”
Greg Laurie, senior pastor of Harvest Church in Anaheim, California, tweeted: “Although we cannot bring back the lives we have lost, a great injustice has been corrected today. Countless lives have been saved by this decision. Thank God! Now more than ever before, the church must prioritize caring for mothers and children.”
