Have you seen someone so passionate about what they are talking about they use every limb on their body to share a story? Well, John Piper was so expressive as he shared the wonders of God that his Apple Watch actually thought he fell down and hurt himself.

“Nobody anywhere in the world can offer you anything better than verse 11, nobody, because nothing is even conceivable better than verse 11, nothing is fuller than full or longer than forever. Full means fully satisfying,” Piper says right before his watch went off to call 911.

In the video circulating online, the congregation laughs hysterically as Piper’s watch starts dinging in the middle of his sermon. “You know what, my phone is telling me I fell down. I’m okay, I did not fall down. Did you hear it? This has happened twice in my life” he exclaims.

If anything is going to cause such an outward expression of excitement, it should be the Bible. The verse he was proclaiming was Psalm 16:11 which says, “You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

It was the goodness and fullness of joy in God’s presence that had Piper so enthused. It would be encouraging to see more pastors today on stage preaching about the everlasting life and fulfillment we have in God with such excitement.

“I’m not falling down! I’m standing up! I’m preaching, good grief Apple,” he says in the video.

In his sermon he continued to share the pleasures awaiting us in heaven for eternity. “If you think that God is incapable of making you happy forever, you don’t know God. Infinite means infinite,” he says.

With all of the hateful, critical and divisive rhetoric spreading across the world today, it’s important to set our gaze upon that which is awaiting us. Piper emboldens believers to remember the endless joy and pleasure we will have with Jesus in heaven. Our time on this earth will come and go in the blink of an eye, but our abundance with the Lord will never end. Eternity in heaven will also be filled with an inconceivable amount of love, joy and peace. Now that is something to get excited about! {eoa}
