Why Saeed Abedini’s Wife Is Calling for 3-Week Fast
Imprisoned Saeed Abedini’s wife called for a three-week fast to draw closer to the presence of the Lord.
Naghmeh Abedini was inspired to draw closer to the Lord by Daniel 10, according to a Facebook post.
For those who wish to join her, she cautions: “I want to make sure we are all on the same page. In order to enter into the presence of God we will have to accept the penalty of sin that was paid on the cross by Jesus.”
Naghmeh understands how costly that admission can be.
“It can mean letting go of everything you have been taught and have believed to be true. It might mean losing your community, friends and your family,” Naghmeh writes. “When I became a follower of Jesus at the age of 9 I had to let go of all I had been taught as a Muslim despite the cost and the rejection and persecution that came from my own family. In the same way if you want to follow Jesus, then you will have to let go of all you have been taught and have believed and be willing to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and accept the Bible as God’s Living Word and the final authority in your life despite the cost. Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior gives you access to the vital relationship with God that you were made for.”
The fast is a fresh start for Naghmeh, who shocked the world last year with claims of spousal abuse.
Naghmeh, who was a tireless advocate for Saeed, halted her public support for her husband’s release from Iranian prison, citing “physical, emotional, psychological and sexual abuse.”
Despite how Saeed allegedly hurt her, Naghmeh maintains the pastor has a passion for Jesus, and she loves him now more than ever.
