Why You Need to Stop Blaming Every Trial on Satan
Brenda Swartz says Christians give too much credit to Satan when bad things happen. Although Satan could be responsible for some of the bad things that occur, ultimately God is in control, and we need to focus more on Him and the Word.
“You’ve got to realize that not every struggle or difficult decision or action is the enemy,” Swartz says. “Hear me on this: We give the enemy way too much control and power. We are constantly speaking these things out. If we gave Jesus as much recognition as we give that lion schemer, we’d all be in a much better state of mind.
“So stop it, even if you know it’s him trying to get in there. Instead of giving him the power to control, draw your sword and cut him off at the knees. God’s Word combined with your mouth is very powerful.”
One way to stay focused on Jesus is via the renewal of our minds (Rom. 12:2). Our minds are what get tempted, and temptation that isn’t appropriately dealt with leads to sin, Swartz explains on the Warrior Family Ministries podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network.
“Renewing our minds, warriors and soldiers, is a lifetime process, and it takes commitment,” Swartz says. “Do you remember when Joyce Meyer came out with her book, The Battlefield of the Mind? You know, there’s a reason she wrote that book. And if you haven’t realized by now that’s where the enemy starts with our minds, then you need to reexamine your life, because you’ve got to understand the battle starts there.”
