Yet Another One Lost: ‘The View’ Host Does Complete Turnaround on Abortion

Sunny Hostin, who joined The View as a co-host in 2016, thanked her fellow ABC panelists this week for helping her to change her once-pro-life opinion about abortion.

The leftist co-host described herself as a “proud Roman Catholic” who, prior to joining the daytime talk show, called herself “pro-life” and believed abortion was “wrong” and akin to “killing babies.”

“I mean, there is that wonderful thing in our country called the separation of church and state, right?” Hostin began. “Remember that? That’s something that I learned about in law school, and that I think most people know about, and I myself am also a Roman Catholic — a proud Roman Catholic. I’ve said it many, many times.”

“You ladies have taught me so much when it comes to my position on abortion,” she continued. “I came in on this show five years ago saying, ‘I am pro-life, and anyone who has an abortion is wrong and they’re killing babies.’ That was my position.”

She went on to explain she now believes such a perspective is incorrect: “My position now is I think [abortion] is wrong. I think life begins [at] conception. That is my faith. I am not going to make that judgment call for anyone else.”

To audience applause, Hostin added: “I have changed, and I’ve changed because you’ve taught me that.”

Given Hostin described herself as a “proud” Catholic, it’s worth looking at the official Catechism of the Catholic Church, which states “human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains forever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being.”

So, if Hostin personally believes abortion is a “moral evil” — and she claims she does — then she has to believe it in all situations, because it is an absolute truth. If she does not believe it absolutely, then she does not believe it.
