Is it possible that we are close to the very next spiritual awakening among young adults?

In a new Barna Research study from Jan. 30, 2025, it was discovered that teenagers are currently looking for faith, and they appear to be open to Jesus.

In the study it was found that:

Over three in four U.S. teens (77%) say they are at least somewhat motivated (52% very, 25% somewhat) to continue learning about Jesus throughout the rest of their lives.

This striking number of those looking at Jesus for spiritual fulfillment instead of running away from Him is a positive in a world that has grown darker in recent years. However, the truth is God is not done with this generation. He has good and perfect plans and will bring them to completion.

As Barna puts it, ” This generation tends to believe there’s something out there more powerful than them.”

While this initial curiosity about a higher power is not the place to stop, it is still fertile ground for their hearts to be reached with the power of the gospel. Deciding to commit to faith appears to be where most get hung up.

Still, many remain hesitant to embrace religion or churchgoing.

This hesitance to embrace religion fully or go to church makes sense considering the mass exodus that has taken place, especially among young women, when it comes to committing to God through His church. However, we can be hopeful that they will return.

With 2024’s soaring Bible sales, we can hope that these curious teens are pursuing the Word of God to learn more about Jesus. If you know a teen or young adult who is seeking to learn more about Jesus, don’t back away or stay shy about the subject. Take them for coffee, explain the gospel, give them a Bible to use, disciple them to become the men and women God has called them to be. We are the vessels God uses to share His light. So, step out in faith, and help to bring in the prodigal sons and daughters.
