Kentucky Town Left Only With Its Faith After Deadly, Devastating Storms

The search for victims continues after a weekend swarm of dozens of tornadoes left of a path of destruction through five states.

In Mayfield, Kentucky, workers on the night shift at Mayfield Consumer Products were in the middle of the holiday rush, cranking out candles, when the word went out: “Duck and cover.”

It was first feared that as many as 70 factory workers might be dead, but as of Monday morning, that number stood at 8 dead, 8 missing.

Religious Liberty Scores Another Victory Against LGBTQ-Oriented Tyranny

A federal district court ruled Friday that Maryland officials violated the First Amendment rights of a church-run grade school after they revoked the school’s eligibility to participate in a voucher program to benefit low-income students, based on the school’s religious beliefs on marriage and sexuality. The court, which found that the school did not engage in any discrimination that would disqualify it from the program, also ruled the school does not have pay back more than $102,000 for its previous participation in the program, as state officials were demanding.

“The government may not discriminate against religious schools simply because it dislikes their religious beliefs,” said ADF Senior Counsel Ryan Tucker, director of the ADF Center for Christian Ministries. “This Christian grade school offers an academically rigorous and caring education in a diverse environment, but Maryland has refused to play by its own rules, expelled the school from a government program without just cause, and demanded the repayment of over $102,000—money that empowered the education of low-income students. Maryland’s families deserve better. The court was on firm ground to stop the state from targeting and denying children scholarships simply based on the beliefs and policies set out in their school’s parent-student handbook.”

The school offers a faith-based education to hundreds of students in the Baltimore metro area, including students from over 40 different nations, children who recently immigrated to the United States, and families with different or no religious affiliations. While many students receive some financial aid, some families were only able to send their children to the school because it participated in Maryland’s Broadening Options and Opportunities for Students Today school voucher program. In August 2018, just weeks before the school year started, Maryland officials abruptly notified families that they could no longer use their BOOST vouchers to educate their children at the school.

Prominent Faith Leaders Warn ‘We Can’t Wait’ Until Elections to Change America

Lance Wallnau, Mario Murillo and Pastor Hank Kunneman are in agreement. Christians cannot wait until the mid-term elections in 2022 or the next presidential election in 2024 to help change the ever-darkening landscape of America. Something must be done, they all say, and it must be done now.

Kunneman, senior pastor of Lord of Hosts church in Omaha, Nebraska, says the time has come for believers to stand up and fix what happened in November 2020 instead of waiting a year.

“I think we need to have the spirit of Elijah, one that’s not afraid to confront, not afraid to call out what is false and stand for what is right and know that we will have God’s backing,” Kunneman said on a recent episode of Flashpoint Live with Gene Bailey. “My question for the people that thought that they could get by with trying to destroy our country is why do they want to destroy our country in the first place? We cannot let 2020 go without the truth being known and something done about it. I hear people talk about 2022 mid-term elections. I hear people talk about 2024, and that’s good news. It’s what we need to push for, to strive for, to work hard for. But when we push it off to 2022 and 2024, it’s almost like we’re falling into the hands of the enemy. We’re saying, well, I guess we can’t fix 2020. That is a bad and dangerous message that we are sending to the people that did this to our country.” {eoa}
