Elon Musk Walks Back Trump Attacks, Issues Apology After Public Clash
Elon Musk, co-founder and head of Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink and The Boring Company, offered a measured apology to President Donald Trump on Monday after a week of fiery online sparring between the two billionaires.
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk wrote on his social media platform X, where their back-and-forth had garnered worldwide attention.

Trump responded to New York Post columnist Miranda Devine he did not blame Musk for his social media meltdown, but that he was “a little disappointed.”
“Look, I have no hard feelings,” Trump said. “I was really surprised that that happened. He went after a bill that’s phenomenal. …He just — I think he feels very badly that he said that, actually.”
The public fallout began after a disagreement over the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” a government funding piece of legislation that passed the House and is awaiting a Senate vote. While Trump praised the bill as a “win for America,” Musk voiced skepticism, prompting a string of increasingly pointed posts aimed at the president.
Perhaps the most incendiary of Musk’s claims was an accusation that the Trump administration failed to release the full Jeffrey Epstein files because the president’s name was among those listed. Musk has since deleted that post and several others critical of Trump, suggesting a change in tone.

The Senate remains divided on the bill in question, with far more apprehension among lawmakers compared to the House.
As for Musk and Trump, it remains to be seen whether this apology will mend their fractured public relationship or merely cool tensions for now.
