In a report by Business Insider, Musk, when originally asked about the black eye, said that the injury occurred after he was playing with his son.
“I was just horsing around with Little X and I said, ‘Go ahead, punch me in the face,'” Musk stated. “And he did. It turns out that even a five-year-old punching you in the face…”
However, more outlets have reported that Musk actually wound up in a physical altercation with Scott Bessent, the Treasury Secretary.
According to the Times of India, this physical altercation happened over the two spat about DOGE’s $1 trillion government spending cut. As Newsweek noted, during this alleged banter with Bessent, Musk supposedly “shoved” the Treasury Secretary. Quoting Steve Bannon as an insider into the situation, Bannon stated, “Scott Bessent called him out and said, ‘You promised us a trillion dollars in cuts, and now you’re at like $100 billion. Nobody can find any savings. What are you doing?'”

No matter how Elon Musk ended up with a black eye—whether through roughhousing with his son or a heated exchange with a top government official—the situation demonstrates the volatility and tension surrounding some of America’s most influential figures.
In a time when powerful voices are clashing over the nation’s future, we are reminded of our responsibility not to speculate or mock, but to pray. Scripture calls believers to intercede for those in authority (1 Tim. 2:1–2), and now more than ever, our leaders need wisdom, humility and guidance. Let us be watchful, discerning and faithful in lifting up our leadership and the direction of America.
