Fort Worth Pastor Alleges Wrongful Termination for ‘Inappropriate Images’

Fort Worth pastor, Scott Crenshaw of Lake Country Church, is claiming that he was wrongfully fired for viewing “inappropriate images,” and is seeking to get his pastoral job back.

As the Christian Post reported, Crenshaw, who was the senior pastor of Lake Country Church, is seeking to be re-instated into his position after he was fired.

“[He] has not looked at any inappropriate images. That is an absolutely baseless claim on behalf of the elders,” Crenshaw’s attorney, Mark Lane said to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “They’ve engaged in nothing but rumor mill and scandalous discussion with employees with malice.”

Lake Country did not provide the Christian Post with additional details when asked about Crenshaw’s termination.

Crenshaw, however, has had issues in the past when it comes to viewing “inappropriate images.” Back in 2016, he had to step down from his position at New River Church for this issue, which occurred during his recovery time from cancer. He was then hired in 2018 at Lake Country Church and admitted that he previously had an addiction to pornography. He told the Christian Post, “Technology was my downfall, but now technology is helping my restoration process.”

In a 2020 issue of Mission Frontiers, shocking research statistics by the Barna Group and Covenant Eyes was revealed including that “68% of church-going men and over 50% of pastors view porn on a regular basis. Of young Christian adults 18-24 years old, 76% actively search for porn.”

Wow. It also stated that “59% of pastors said that married men seek their help for porn use.”

Pornography is a stronghold that plagues not only our culture at large, but it has found its way into the church and has found its grip around our leaders. This is the moment when leaders need serious covering in prayer, that they would not fall to the whims of this world, but that they would stand strong in the faith. For the body of Christ we need to seek God with our whole hearts and allow Him to fill us. Nothing in this world will ever complete us the way He can.
