Harbinger of the Coming Water Crisis: A Prophetic Warning

Water is life. Without it, civilizations collapse, wars ignite and famine spreads.

Evangelist Perry Stone has sounded the alarm on what he calls “the prophetic harbinger of the coming water shortage.” According to Stone, biblical prophecy and current global trends point to an impending crisis that could reshape the world as we know it.

“The next wars will be over food and the water supply,” Stone warns. “When I say one of the next wars, we’re talking about wars that will happen globally.”

Stone ties this to Scripture, pointing to Revelation 8:10-11, and in Revelation 16, the crisis deepens. “The second Angel poured out his vial upon the sea, and it became as the blood of a dead man, and every living soul died in the sea. And the third Angel poured his vial upon the rivers and the fountains of water, and they became as blood.” Stone emphasizes that while these events unfold in the Tribulation, current signs suggest water scarcity is already becoming a critical issue worldwide.

He draws attention to the Euphrates River, which has been a lifeline for the Middle East for millennia but is now dwindling. “The sixth Angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates, and the water thereof was dried up that the way of the kings of the East might be prepared.” Stone notes that modern geopolitical realities align with this prophecy: “Turkey has five dams in which they can control the flow of the Euphrates River…the Euphrates River has been low for quite some time.”

The issue extends beyond the Middle East. Water disputes are growing between nations across the globe:

  • Pakistan and India – Ongoing tensions over shared water resources.
  • China and Mekong nations – Concerns over China’s control of upstream water sources.
  • U.S. and Mexico – Disputes over the Rio Grande and Colorado River.
  • Tennessee and Georgia – Past conflicts over water access during droughts.
  • Israel and Jordan – Cooperation and tensions over Jordan River water usage.

In Stone’s view, water scarcity is not just a political or environmental issue—it is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy. “Somewhere prophetically there will come war… over the ability to make food because do you have the water to be able to make the food to feed your people?” The book of Revelation describes famine as a direct consequence of water shortages: “When you see that there’s going to be a famine and there’s going to be rationing of bread and food, that’s the reason why. Once the water supply becomes polluted… we could use the plants on the ocean… but it takes years to build them.”

So what does this mean for us today? Stone cautions against complacency, urging people to be aware of the signs and prepare accordingly, “The biggest thing in the United States is the volcanic activity where the volcanic ash… covers the ground and just chokes out everything.” In other words, disruptions to natural resources can come swiftly and without warning, further intensifying the crisis.

As water shortages intensify, the world may soon witness not just localized conflicts but global struggles over access to clean, life-sustaining water.
