Has the US Border Crisis Opened the Door to Enemy Infiltration?
Middle East analyst and author Joel Rosenberg says the Iranian regime may soon activate terror networks operating in the United States and other Western nations in response to recent military strikes that have weakened its nuclear and ballistic capabilities.
“Iran is not done,” Rosenberg said in a YouTube-exclusive episode of The Rosenberg Report. “Yeah, they could agree to an unconditional surrender. But they don’t have to, because they have, as best as we understand it, they have cards to play.”

Rosenberg pointed to what he called sleeper cells — groups of terrorists who enter a country undetected and remain inactive until given orders to carry out attacks.
“One of the things that I have been most concerned about is sleeper cells,” he said. “They just wait. They rent an apartment, they buy a house, they gather weapons, they make their plans, but they just wait until they’re activated.”
Open Borders and Terror Risks
He expressed concern that terrorist operatives may have entered the U.S. through the southern border in recent years.
“More than 10 million people came into the United States during the Biden administration because of an open border policy,” Rosenberg said. “We know that U.S. border officials captured and arrested many, hundreds of people that were on the international terror watch list. What we don’t know is how many people… snuck into the United States and then went dark.”
Rosenberg noted that the issue extends beyond the Biden administration, adding that illegal entry continued during previous administrations as well.
“Even during Trump’s first term… he didn’t stop everybody,” he said. “Who is in the United States right now that we don’t know about?”
Novel Series Draws on Real-World Concerns
Rosenberg referenced his novel The Libyan Diversion, which features terrorists smuggling dirty bombs into U.S. cities through Mexico. He said the story was inspired by a conversation with former CIA Director and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
“I asked Mike Pompeo… what keeps you up at night?” Rosenberg said. “Pompeo surprised me by saying the thing that keeps him up at night was ungoverned spaces in northern Mexico.”
According to Rosenberg, Pompeo described how Mexican authorities had relinquished control over regions along the U.S. border. “They just sort of let it go and let the drug cartels and terrorist groups and other criminal enterprises run large swaths of territory on their own,” Rosenberg said.
Rosenberg said this scenario influenced both The Libyan Diversion and its sequel, The Beijing Betrayal, which depict coordinated attacks launched by terror cells operating on U.S. soil.
Iranian Network Has Global Reach
The broader concern, Rosenberg said, is the global scope of Iran’s terror network.
“Iran has terror groups all over the world,” he said. “Maybe they’re not Iranian citizens or nationals, but they’re activated by Iran — meaning part of the Hamas international terror network or the Houthis or other terrorist jihadist groups that Iran funds, encourages and arms.”
He also raised questions about internal threats in Israel.
“Are there any nationals or foreigners here inside Israel who are sympathetic to or are agents that are run by Iran?” he asked. “Do they have weapons? And what are they planning?”

Rosenberg said he cannot confirm that any sleeper cells have been activated, but cautioned that “there are millions… of people that have come into the United States during the Biden years that we have no idea who they are.”
“This war isn’t quite over yet,” he said. “But Iran has cards to play. It could activate its terror network not just in the United States, Canada, but also in Europe and around Israel.”
