Is the Great Revival Harvest Closer Than We Think?
Perhaps the next great harvest is right in front of us in one of the most unexpected places.
In a Feb. 13, Barna report, there appears to be a greater number of people who are open to Christianity, and even biblical principles than most Christians would assume. In their findings, they discovered that “spiritually open non-Christians tend to be more receptive to core Christian beliefs compared to those who aren’t spiritually open.” While this makes logical sense, what Barna found next was quite surprising.

“…non-Christians, particularly those who are spiritually open, often hold beliefs that align more closely with Christianity than many in the church might think. This suggests that Christians and church leaders engaging with non-Christians have a valuable opportunity to build trust and find common ground, rather than assuming vast divides.
If these spiritual seekers are already open to the concept of biblical principles, perhaps there is more room for sharing the gospel with those who do not currently believe than we ever thought possible.
In their findings, 36% of spiritually open non-Christians and 29% of all non-Christians believe “God is the all-powerful, all-knowing, perfect creator of the universe who rules the world today.”
In essence, this is a core biblical tenet. While 42% of those who are not spiritually open do not believe that God exists, these findings show that there is still room for hope, that Christians may spread the gospel to the very ends of the earth. As Bible sales continue to go up and young adults are admittedly more open to Christianity, we just may be on the brink of the end times harvest.
It is our job as Christians to go and preach the gospel to the very ends of the earth. With spiritual seekers open to the basics of the faith, this is not the time to hold back our beliefs, rather this is the moment to embrace the opportunity to share the Good News with them.
