Jonathan Cahn on Prayer and Repentance: ‘Critical Moment’
Each year, believers come together in Washington D.C. for the National Gathering of Prayer and Repentance to seek the Lord for our nation. During this new year and post-election season, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn made it clear to believers at the gathering how profoundly crucial is this time period.
“We are standing at a most critical moment,” says rabbi Cahn.
Examining the prophetic warning from none other than George Washington, Cahn pleads that if America turns its heart away from the Lord, we would experience the removal our our blessings.

“We have turned away from God, we have disregarded His eternal rules of order and right. We have profaned the holy, we have sanctified profane,” Cahn warns.
Yet, God in His goodness and mercy always opens up a window of time for repentance and a turning back to Him. In the Old Testament, Jehu was used by God to dismantle the atrocities that Israel had let into their nation and ways.
“Jehu is the mystery behind Donald Trump. Jehu was wild, impulsive and unpredictable. So [is] Trump,” Cahn says.
Jehu had aligned himself with the religious conservatives of his time, something we have seen Donald Trump do as well. Jehu had to contend against Israel’s former first lady, Jezebel, and in the same way, Trump had to do the same with Hillary Clinton. Jehu’s purpose was to get the government of Israel back into order, in the ways that the Lord had meant for it always to be. So too, Cahn believes that Trump’s role for America serves a similar purpose.
“When Jehu came to power, he moved with lightning speed to purge the government, to dismantle the houses, rid it of that which was opposed to the purposes of God,” Cahn states. “In these past two weeks, Trump has moved with lightning speed to purge the government, dismantle its houses and rid it of that which has opposed the purposes of God.”
So, what does this mean?
“It is a sign that God is giving America a chance, a window of time…the answer is revival. For if we change the government, but do not change the people, the unchanged people will change the government back.”
God has given us a period of grace to return to Him with a heart of repentance, full and ready to seek Him. Let us not miss out on this opportunity that He is giving us.
