Lakewood Church Shooting Investigation Enters New Phase
The shooting at Lakewood Church last year remains an unsettling and tragic event.
The Feb. 11, 2024, incident, in which 36-year-old Genesse Ivonne Moreno opened fire inside the megachurch before being shot and killed by off-duty officers, is now entering its next chapter. As reported by The Christian Post, “The case will be reviewed by a grand jury,” a customary process for any officer-involved shooting that results in a fatality.
The circumstances surrounding the attack are as tragic as they are complex. Moreno, who was described as struggling with mental illness, brought her then 7-year-old son, Samuel Moreno-Carranza, into the church before opening fire. The child was shot in the head during the incident, believed to be an accident in the chaos. A 57-year-old bystander also was shot in the leg.

Rick Warren Issues Apology: ‘I Wrote Poorly’
Rick Warren has apologized after he had a controversial post on X go viral that suggested Jesus would have been in the middle politically.
The post, which has since been taken off of Warren’s page, read: “They crucified Jesus with two others — one on each side & Jesus in the middle. The guys on both sides were thieves. If you’re looking for the #realJesus, not a caricature disfigured by partisan motivations, you’ll find him in the middle, not on either side.”
Now, Warren is asking the world to accept his apology for the post.
Pastor’s Viral Rebuke of the American Church
In a short video posted to X, Pastor Greg Locke rebuked the state of the American church. He also spoke about the backlash Christians have given Pastor Paula White for assuming leadership of the newly assembled Faith Office, which was created by President Donald Trump.
While some Christians have been ecstatic to see White lead this brand-new initiative, others are outraged, which has led to online fighting within the faith community.
Hear what Pastor Locke has to say about persecution, America and the state of the church below.
